The Institutional Foundation

The Ophidian Synodus (often referred to simply as The Synodus) was formally established in 2025, representing the ultimate and necessary evolution of the Ordo Adamantis Atri, which served as the preparatory spiritual vehicle active globally from 2011 to 2025.

The Synodus is the world's governing body and spiritual apex for the practice and dissemination of Ophidism—a new religious paradigm founded upon rigorous scholarship of ancient traditions and the profound symbolism of the Serpent.

The Synodus serves as the institutional fortress dedicated to guiding the ophidians through the spiritual and temporal challenges of existence.

The Serpent's Taxis: Order, Hierarchy, and Sovereignty

The Ophidian Synodus is not merely a spiritual fellowship; it is a meticulously structured, global philosophical and religious Order. Our organization, the Taxis, is the living framework that translates the ultimate truths of Gnōsis and the Pharmakon into disciplined action.

We embody the paradox of the Serpent: Absolute Parity among seekers, governed by a hierarchy of Absolute Discipline.

The Undulating Ascent: The Eleven Coils

Every member is a Sovereign Seeker, but every Seeker is dedicated to the Fieri (Becoming). The path of ascent is marked by Eleven Coils (liturgical roles), each demanding deeper dedication to Devotion and increased responsibility to the Taxis.

The progression is a spiral of knowledge and service, from the initial commitment of the Postulant to the profound revelation of the Hierophant, culminating in the administrative and strategic mastery of the Hierarch.

The Ophidian Hierarchy

  • The Neokoros is the “warden of the sacred place”. After the Novitiate, which ends following the request of the Novice and after positive evaluation of the Administration, the Novice becomes a Neokoros. This period combines the study of Ophidian doctrine with the the first approach to liturgical practice. During in-person liturgies, he helps in the preparation of the sacred space, without having direct access to the altar. In case of online celebrations he helps with the setting of the hosting platform, the settings on microphone and webcams and all technical things related to the celebration. The Neokoros must serve with a single liturgist (or above) for at least three (3) months.

  • After their service as Neokoros, the Liturgist who have worked with them can accept them as a Sacrist. In this phase, which lasts three (3) months more, they will be in charge of cleaning and manipulate the objects on the altar, actively helping the Liturgist during the celebrations. In case of online liturgies, they will be in charge of giving instructions to participants, monitoring their behavior during the celebration and reading the responses of the liturgy (if necessary). During this period, the Sacrist must also focus their studies on the axioms of the ophidian liturgy, having a theoretical preparation for its celebration.

  • The Hiereologos is the final stage of liturgical education and is the student who has mastered the symbolism of the Canonic Ierà, being able to focus their studies on the festive liturgies and on alternative celebrations (weddings, funerary rites, canonizations). The Hiereologos does not only study them, but unifies the functions of the Neokoros and the Sacrist for all the advanced liturgies. The passage from Sacrist to Hiereologos is suggested, again, by the Liturgist working on their education. Together with the practical service they take the course of “Fundamentals of Western Philosophy”.

  • The Liturgist is the celebrant of Ophidian liturgies. They can celebrate all the fundamental celebrations (Canonic Ierà, Festive Liturgies, Weddings and Funerary Rites) being in charge of their own ophidian community. To become a Liturgist, a Hiereologos must complete successfully their practical service with their teacher, plus an oral examination with an Exegete or above on Ophidian doctrine, liturgy, latin language and basic western philosophy.

  • The Exegete is a proper interpreter of Doctrine. The Exegete is responsible for official interpretation, commentary, and resolution of doctrinal disputes, ensuring the intellectual integrity of the Gnōsis. Any Liturgist who, in addition to their liturgical service has contributed in the philosophical dissemination of Ophidism, can request the access to the office of the Exegete. The admission fully depends on the administration, considering their publications, contributions and academic merits.

  • The Hierophant is the master of ophidian practice and philosophy. They have shown themself capable not only to conduct the more complex liturgies and to actively contributing in the academic dissemination of Ophidism, but has also proved to have great organizational skills. For this reason, the Hierophant is in charge of several Liturgists, contributing in the organization of bigger liturgies and events on their territory.

  • The Taxsiarch is the chief of Order and Strategy. They are Responsible for the structural organization (Taxis) and discipline of the Synodus on a broad, strategic level, translating the spiritual mandate into actionable, disciplined conduct across all communities. For this reason, they are nominated directly by the Hierarch being their stricter collaborators. They have a seat in the Private Council of the Hierarch, having spiritual power over a greater territory than the Hierophant.

  • The Hierarch is the supreme leader of Ophidism on a spiritual and administrative level. He/She has power all over the Synodus, working together with other administrative offices and their Private Council to administrate the Synodus worldwide. The Hierarch is elected by the Tkasiarch among them and is a lifelong office.
